Happy to pay for a better St. Paul
Living in St. Paul I used to see many of the "Happy to pay for a better Minnesota" lawn signs. I presume most of them were at sometime replaced by a Franken or Obama sign, but I do still see a few. These folks wanted to be taxed more so that there would be more government. Some folks were "happy to pay" a little more, while they wanted other folks to pay a lot. Heck, today's world they just want "the rich" to pay more.
Many have said, "why don't these people just write out an additional check to the government" if they are so insistent in paying more. Well, congratulations to Terry Olsen of St. Paul, she put her money where her mouth was and wrote the city a check for $273.75! Good for her!
She was inspired after reading a letter to the editor
in the Highland Villager. A resident wrote in and
proposed that if everyone in St. Paul paid 13 cents a
day for three years, the budget problem could be fixed.
Olsen figured she could do a quarter a day.

Plus, bureaucratic process doesn't make donating directly
to the city practical, Coleman said.
Why not? Seems simple to me. But then, that would make sense, we are talking about DFL monopoly government.
