The Replacements. Someone take the wheel......
Tommy Stinson says The Replacements "Just don't have it in us" for any hopes of a Replacements reunion.
I keep thinking it would be great. Bob wouldn't be there, but then Slim in his day was OK. If Chris Mars doesn't do, then it doesn't work for me.
I still remember stopped at the traffic light at 26th and Lyndale one afternoon cranking at full volume "Customer". Then in the doorway of a burned out Oarfolk record store, was Bob Stinson, drinking from a paper bag and watching them throw out melted vinyl LP's. He heard my "radio blastin" and gave me a toast. Thanks, Bob.
Years before that, it was January 1984, I was still convinced that what KQRS was playing was the best music that was out there. My friend Jeff was trying and trying to feed me something else musically without avail. So we went to an all ages show at the "old" Seventh Street Entry on a below zero late Sunday afternoon. I was drinking legal at 19, Jeff was still 18, so that's why it was the all ages show. Saw The Replacements for the first time. I never looked at music the same way again. Thanks Jeff.
