Give appeasement a chance!
Now that the 35W bridge is fixed I can take the scenic route home again down West River Road and cross the Lake Street bridge into St. Paul. It's a habit that hard to get back into, but I never miss a Wednesday. Wednesdays during the 4-6 o'clock hours, the anti-war protesters use their First Amendment right to voice their opinion on the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and what they seem to predict, Iran.
Last year, 2008, I'd say there were 75-100+ every Wednesday, depending on weather, and whether they could get their Subaru's started. Well the last few weeks I'd say there must be 20-25 at the most. Now, earlier in the year, we had some cold weather, so you gotta be damn angry to vent with a good cold wind chill. But this is nice early spring weather! It feels nice on a 35 degree day.
Where did all the protesters go?
We haven't taken any troops out of Iraq or Afghanistan? I think we might have added some.
We did announce that we were going to close Gitmo. But we haven't, yet.
They had their second successful election in Iraq. That means it's getting better, right?
Could it be that even though U.S. foreign policy really hasn't changed much in the last month, it doesn't seem as bad under President Obama?

Wow I can't believe that that many people have given up already. I think if you are going to stand for something give it 100% don't just quit because you don't see results in the short term. People really seem to be getting softer. I'm am glad to read that there is still people standing up for the cause.
