ASTRO TURFING? HUH?

Do you remember a few weeks ago the mainstream media and Democrats saying that all the town hall protesters were not grass roots protesters but "astro-turfers".

Well, I was at Rep. Betty McCollum's town hall the other night and it was packed with pre made signs from the Obama campaign.

Well, here's another meeting put on by The Obama Campaign.

Let's sign up! Please, forward this on!

Rep. McCollum's Town Hall Meeting at Macalester College

Yes, I was there with my big red sign that read "More debt? Print more money?". I got in, one of only 400. I would presume that more than a couple thousand were there by 6:00 PM, and the show didn't start till 7:00PM. And could you believe it? The place was packed with pre-made Obama signs that said "THANK YOU". I didn't see any pre-made signs from the insurance lobby, just simple homemade signs.

Well, they did a good job stacking the deck, but their cards weren't drawn. You received a perforated 2 piece raffle ticket, one to hold on to and one that went into a big wicker basket. If they drew your number, you got to speak. Well, if you stacked the deck, you'd think that you would get "your people" to speak. A majority of the people who got to speak were against the increase in government health care! It really baffled them! Hey, check out Sue Jeffiers , she was taking better notes than me and has an exact count. I 'm sure she will have some great insights on tonight.

If you go to Minnesota Majority they were filming tonight, so follow their website too for some great video.

One thing that did make me chuckle is that after a man expressed his concern about abortion in the proposed legislation, Rep. McCollum commented he had "valid talking points". Not opinion, not a closely held religious belief, but his concern was a "talking point".

The Great Tele-Town Hall?

Oh, Wednesday I was so exited. I received an e-mail from Senator Amy Klobuchar that she wanted ME to be part of her Tele Town Hall!

Dear :_____

As someone who has previously contacted our office to share your thoughts on issues important to you, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in a live statewide healthcare tele-town hall meeting this Sunday, August 23 rd , at 7:00 PM.  Along with people like you from across the state, I will be joined by Dr. Denis Cortese, CEO of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and Mary Wakefield, the highest ranking nurse in the federal government.  The three of us will discuss the need for health care reform, including ways to make the American health care system more affordable and more stable, and I will answer as many questions as I can from citizens from around the state.

If you would like to participate in this important discussion, the only way to guarantee your involvement is to visit our website at
http://klobuchar.senate.gov or click HERE and enter your contact information.  Once you’re registered, you’ll get an automated reminder phone call on Friday evening and you’ll be called again on Sunday to be joined to the call.  The phone number you provide will be kept private.

If you have any questions, you can call the office toll free at 1-888-224-9043.

I look forward to hearing from you on Sunday.

Sincerely,

Amy Klobuchar
United States Senator

I was really pumped! Maybe all those calls to her Minnesota and Washington offices paid off! I even received my follow up call on Saturday. I was really looking forward to Sunday night.

6:45, 6:50, 7:00, no call, maybe they are just busy, maybe it's running late. Then at 7:15 I received my recorded message from Amy saying she "missed me". How could she have "missed me", I was home since 5 or so. She explained I could listen to a recording of her town hall on her website. If my call was as 7:15, was it over yet? I guess when no one is dissenting, things go pretty fast.

I guess maybe I didn't call her office enough I'll start calling more.

Don't look for Katie Couric to cover this news story.........

Or, NPR, or the Star Tribune, or CBS, or NBC or you name it.

You might have to dig real deep to find this covered anywhere!

Here is some news regarding the mainstream media's girl they like to
hate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin .

The governor's office said it was the 13th ethics complaint
filed against the governor or her staff that has been resolved
with no finding of a violation of the state ethics law.

I'm not sure if I saw reports on the other 12 accusations that have been dismissed!

Guns in National Parks? Obama to sign bill allowing it.

Looks like legal, law abiding, permit to carry gun owners will be able to carry in our National Parks.

And President Obama is going to vote for this.

Remember, without the 2nd, you don't have the others.

Another entitlement program? Why not!

Social Security and Medicare going bankrupt sooner than we thought? No time than the better to start another huge government entitlement program we can't pay for, socialized medicine.

Data Privacy for State Government Workers

Seeing that they have the budget all wrapped up and signed by the Governor, why not hit on some important things like data privacy of government workers. The editorial board of the Pioneer Press was trying to make a case for releasing personal data on government employees but failed to come up with an important question.

What would happen if you were a government employee, say a union school teacher, and you happened to be active in the Republican Party? Oh, sure, not a problem if you were a Democrat, but what if you were one of those hated Republicans? What if this information was available to the general public? Or, just government employees, yes, good old civil servants doing what is "best" for Minnesota? Or, say, that government employee was active in Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL), or maybe he/she has a handgun carry permit or some nice high powered and legal firearms?

It seems to me that just as much bad could come out of this possible legislation as good. And, as usual, I almost always disagree with my Representative, Michael Paymar of Highland Park, and I do again.

I will continue to read my newspapers and watch my newscasts and always say out loud "Why don't they ask these things?"

Pork, Pork, Pork, Pork

Not even sure what to say on this one. It kinda speaks for itself. I wonder why my neck is sore from shaking my head back and forth.

Think Happy Today!

Everybody sing along! If you were living in Minnesota in the 1970's you know the song!

"Think happy today. Don't think about yesterday.
You are better off next year, than you are now.
Let Twin City Federal, show you how!"

Well, Twin City Federal is now TCF Bank, they are also my bank, and I am proud of it.

They are TARP Free!

What really gets me is why we haven't seen more media play on this. A small mention in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, nothing in the Star Tribune, nothing locally or nationally.

This is a big deal! No more Obama Administration and their watchful eye on the TCF executive board.

Back in the saddle

Accountants have tax season, farmers have the harvest, and people in the construction business have the spring construction season. No, I'm not an accountant, not a farmer, but do sell in the commercial construction industry, so I've been busy.

Back to blogging.
